St. Andrew's is Green (and getting Greener))

Did you know that St. Andrew's is green? Not only does many of our congregation walk or ride to the church, but we also turn the heat down at night, keep minimal lights on in the building, host a Kid's Swap Meet, recycle everything we can from the kitchen and run a newspaper recycling program.

If you haven't heard about the newspaper recycling program this is how it works. In the white shed behind the church there is a spot to drop off your newspapers (so please do). A few times a year we pack up the newspapers into a container, the container gets weighed and then sent off for recycling. The church gets paid based on the weight on the papers and the money goes into the church for operating expenses.

If you have any suggestions to make St. Andrew's greener please contact us.

Welcome From Deb

Rev. Debra HinksmanOn occasion I still find myself saying that I'm the "new" minister at St. Andrews. I guess after 8 years i can't say that anyone. At times I can't believe I've been here this long and as I think about my tenure here thus far I realize that I am living proof of the saying "time flies when you're having fun".

Fun isn't a theological word. Truth be told, for most people, fun is not the first word they'd used when they think about church.

I suppose that for some, a word association game about church might go like this...

Say the first word that enters your mind when you think of church:

"boring"........"dull".............."out of touch"....................

If that is how you've always thought about church, your in for a SURPRISE at St. Andrews. For us - "fun" is a totally appropriate word! There's absolutely nothing wrong with having fun either!

Just because we focus on God and on serious or important life matters on a weekly basis, doesn't mean it needs to be sombre and boring! If anything, the community of faith and its worship needs to be a place of fun and joy where inspiration and hope can touch individuals and help us be transformed, nourished and sent forth into the world yet again each week.

Worship is casual and the community welcoming. An affirming and inclusive congregation we join in worship, often with coffee in hand, to celebrate the journey of faith and a God who is Love.

If you are looking for a place to explore your own faith journey; please consider joining us at worship - or any of the other events you will find as you browse our website.

I very much look forward to meeting you.
